As I Watched It End by Jordan-Roberts As I Watched It End by Jordan-Roberts
Jordan Roberts Photography
The Grand Coulee, Eastern WA.

I have been waiting for an image like this for a long time now. An unbelievable sunset over the Grand Coulee. Sunsets like this aren't too uncommon this time of year with stormy weather. I can't help but imagine this is what it'll look like when it all ends....

The colors are so vivid. It looks more like a sunrise than a sunset. Excellent work!

I'm always surprised that there are deserts in Washington and Oregon ! Must visit someday ~ great shot !

Thank you! And it's very true. However, after living here it doesn't feel like a traditional desert. I wouldn't compare it to the Mojave desert or something. It's more of a grassland that doesn't see a lot of rain lol

are you disappointed in the lack of desertyness ? . . . not exactly the Sahara eh ? -- I think there's something like the John Day fossil beds or something ..( maybe in Oregon ? ). . . . . guess I'll stick with the southwestern deserts for now ! :)

What I'm really saying is people compare this side of the Cascades to the west and since there aren't any volcanoes, wildflowers and river gorges it's not as pretty. And it's definitely not even given the time of day.

....I often love those places that other people don't know - or have the time of day for -----if I had more $$ -- I would definitely explore these drylands east of the coast .....each area has it's places few have discovered.

No not at all! I'm not a fan of the deserts in the southwest. This up here gets put down a lot because people think it's a traditional desert when it's nothing at all compared to the bleakness of the mojave.

I was thinking more about southern Utah and Northern Arizona - these are the deserts I love - hard to see how a photographer could not love these vast mesa filled canyonlands ------------but each place has it's own character - I might really like your northern deserts - they , I'm sure , have their own feel .

I'm actually going to publish a book hopefully next year themed around East of the Cascades and it's not going to feature Palouse Falls.

Don't get me wrong places like Zion and Bryce canyon etc are gorgeous! They are just so heavily photographed nowadays. It's nice to get to a location like this that hasn't been professional photographed, ever.

I understand that completely - at one time I wanted to be a landscape photographer of deserts  - but never of the major parks and over-run sights .....I always desired to just find those out of the way off road places with a certain unusual character . . . got tired , myself , of the billions of standard landscape shots with barrel cactus in foreground - red rocks in background - nice sunset , etc - besides - the market is over-flooded with these images  ...not that I don't appreciate well done-  by the book-  landscape photogaphy - still takes skill ..........but I like the unusual .....and in your current hunting grounds , I'm sure you'll find some fresh new material to work with ...good luck with it ....:) :sun:
